Good Morning!!
Well, what to say?
The 1st thing I have to say is we had a record attendance today. Thank you to all who took part on Sunday. Anglers, spectators, assistants and all. You all added to what was a good day all round.
Rado and John who last week vowed never to come here again, came here again. They just can’t resist it.
So what happened?
We split the match into 2 sections. 7 on the house bank and 7 on the wall. Peg 1 was actually used for the 1st time in a long while.
Of the 6 Brits taking part, 3 were on the wall and 3 on the house bank, a good even split. I drew peg 12 and was pleased with the draw. The wall means an out and out Tollostolob attack to me, so that’s what I did.
Plumbing up I was surprised to find the depth was quite shallow with what appeared to be a shelf at about 8 metres. This was to be my main line of attack. There are a few reeds to the left of the swim and I decided they would be my Taranka/Amour catching spot.
My day consisted of:
- Throwing in a pile of groundbait at the off laced with the usual wheat and sweetcorn.
- Loose feeding the left hand reeds
- Throwing more groundbait in
- Loose feeding the left hand reeds
- Losing floats when I hooked the bottom
I think I had a bite at about the 1 hour point where I bumped a fish.
Having said that, Gencho fishing maggot on peg 13 wasn’t doing much better with just a few bits in his net but then he hooked and landed a Tollostolob. Mark on peg 11 was also on maggot and was struggling and didn’t bother weighing in at the end, he was therefore disqualified from winning the Spoon!
With about 5 minutes to go, my swim fizzed for the 1st time all day and for a very short period, my hopes of hitting a monster rose. Then my dearest wife, Sue, blew the hooter and that was that. All done!
The weigh in showed that most of the lake had fished quite well with double figure weights (Lbs) needed to frame. Georgi also had the biggest Sun Perch I’ve ever seen which must have weighed close to 1/2lb or more. A very pretty fish.

And that’s all, she wrote!
Due to popular demand there is another match this coming Sunday, 31st October. If the weather holds that is. As an official old fart, I have no desire to sit in the freezing cold wet and drown maggot for 5 hours. I used to do that years ago, now I’m far too much in need of my creature comforts. Having said that, the forecast is for good weather, fingers crossed.

where is the photos Paul?
Sorry Yan. I would have posted yesterday but we had to spend most of the day at the Police station and by the time we’d finished, I couldn’t be arsed.
